How to watch Heat vs. Nets basketball game

Who’s Playing

Brooklyn @ Miami

Current Records: Brooklyn 38-35; Miami 47-27

What to Know

The Brooklyn Nets have been on the wrong side of a one-way rivalry with the Miami Heat and are hoping to record their first victory since Jan. 25 of last year. Brooklyn will take on Miami at 8 p.m. ET Saturday at FTX Arena after having had a few days off. Given that these two teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.

On Wednesday, the Nets lost to the Memphis Grizzlies on the road by a decisive 132-120 margin. Point guard Kyrie Irving put forth a good effort for the losing side as he shot 6-for-11 from downtown and finished with 43 points and eight assists.

Meanwhile, Miami came up short against the New York Knicks on Friday, falling 111-103. Miami was up 88-73 at the end of the third quarter but couldn’t hold on to the lead. Despite the loss, they got a solid performance out of small forward Jimmy Butler, who had 30 points and seven assists in addition to seven boards.

Brooklyn is the favorite in this one, with an expected 3.5-point margin of victory. But bettors beware: they are only 15-30 against the spread when favored.

The losses put the Nets at 38-35 and the Heat at 47-27. A pair of stats to keep in the back of your head while watching: Brooklyn ranks fourth in the league when it comes to field goal percentage, with 47.40% on the season. But Miami have been holding their opponents to a field goal percentage of 44.50%, which places them fourth in the league. We’ll see which of these strengths — offense or defense — will win out.
