Canada vs. Honduras odds, picks, how to watch, live stream: Jan. 27 CONCACAF World Cup qualifier predictions

Written by on January 27, 2022

Canada will try to remain undefeated in the third round of 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifying when it takes the pitch on Thursday. The Canadians have won four and drawn four ahead of Matchday 9 of the third round. They will take on Honduras, which has yet to win a game during third-round qualifying. However, Honduras managed to nab a point when it last faced Canada, as the two played to a 1-1 draw in early September. You can catch all the action on Paramount+.

Kick-off is set for 8:05 p.m. ET at Estadio Olímpico Metropolitano in San Pedro Sula, Honduras. Caesars Sportsbook lists the Canadians as the +108 favorites (risk $100 to win $108) on the 90-minute money line. The latest Honduras vs. Canada odds also have Honduras as the +245 underdog, while a draw returns +200. The over-under for total goals is 2.5. Thursday’s match will be streamed live on Paramount+ with their must-have Premium plan.

CONCACAF World Cup qualifying picks for Honduras vs. Canada

Before you tune in to Thursday’s World Cup qualifiers, you need to see the CONCACAF World Cup qualifiers picks from soccer insider Jon Eimer. He is a high-volume bettor who has vast knowledge of leagues and players across the globe. Since joining SportsLine, Eimer has covered the English Premier League, Serie A, the FA Cup and much more. The Indiana-based handicapper compiled a winning record of 260-133-1 with over 90 units of profit for his community on various platforms over a recent two-month stretch.

For Canada vs. Honduras, Eimer is backing Canada to win on the 90-minute money line at +108 odds. Canada is one of the best teams in CONCACAF, which is obvious not just from the team topping the standings, but also due to its recent track record. It’s been two-and-a-half years since the Canadians lost to a CONCACAF team other than the USMNT and Mexico. While those two are inside the top 15 of FIFA’s rankings, Honduras sits at No. 76.

Honduras’ five goals in eight qualifying games are just one more than Canada’s leading scorer, Cyle Larin, has. Teammate Jonathan David (three goals) is the second-leading goal-scorer in CONCACAF, which shows the potency of Team Canada.

Honduras has dropped five straight games, four of which came in World Cup 2022 qualifiers. “With travel, the difference in points between the teams, and with COVID-19 still in the air affecting lineups, we should still see Canada’s dominant attack do what they do best and get out of this matchup with a strong three points to further bolster them in the CONCACAF table,” Eimer told SportsLine.
