What to Know
After a three-game homestand, the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs will be on the road. They will square off against the NC State Wolfpack at 6 p.m. ET on Saturday at Carter-Finley Stadium. Both teams come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous games.
The Bulldogs picked up a 24-17 victory over the North Texas Mean Green last week. The Louisiana Tech offense checked out after the first half but had enough points banked to take the game anyway.
Meanwhile, it may have taken double overtime to finish the job, but NC State ultimately got the result they were hoping for last week with a 27-21 win over the Clemson Tigers. The score was all tied up at the break 7-7, but the Wolfpack were the better team in the second half. Their success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but WR Emeka Emezie led the charge as he caught 14 passes for one TD and 116 yards.
The Bulldogs are the clear underdogs, so they’re hoping it’s the size of the fight that determines this one. However, those who like betting on the underdog should be happy to hear that they are 2-0 against the spread when expected to lose.
The wins brought Louisiana Tech up to 2-2 and NC State to 3-1. A pair of defensive stats to keep in the back of your head while watching: Louisiana Tech is 245th worst in the nation in passing touchdowns allowed, with 12 on the season. NC States have had an even harder time: they are stumbling into the matchup with the 131st most passing touchdowns allowed in the nation, having given up five on the season. It’s possible one of these Achilles’ heels will wind up tripping the losing team up.
