What to Know
The Dayton Flyers will square off against the Belmont Bruins at 4 p.m. ET Sunday at HP Field House. Dayton isn’t expected to win, but seeing as the odds didn’t stop them last game, maybe the team has another upset up their sleeve.
The Flyers skirted by the Kansas Jayhawks 74-73 this past Friday thanks to a clutch half-court bomb from forward Mustapha Amzil as the clock expired. Dayton got double-digit scores from five players: forward DaRon Holmes II (16), guard Elijah Weaver (14), forward Toumani Camara (14), guard Koby Brea (10), and guard Malachi Smith (10).
Meanwhile, Belmont bagged a 72-65 victory over the Iona Gaels this past Friday. Belmont’s center Nick Muszynski did his thing and had 19 points along with eight rebounds and three blocks.
Dayton is expected to win this handily, but they should have beaten the Austin Peay Governors Nov. 20 easily too and instead slipped up with an 87-81. In other words, don’t count the Bruins out just yet.
