What to Know
The Fresno State Bulldogs and the Boise State Broncos are even-steven against one another since November of 2017 (2-2), but not for long. Fresno State and the Broncos will face off in a Mountain West battle at 7 p.m. ET next Saturday at Bulldog Stadium. Both teams seek to continue their momentum from their previous wins.
Fresno State was able to grind out a solid win over the San Diego State Aztecs on Saturday, winning 30-20. Fresno State’s RB Jordan Mims was on fire, rushing for two TDs and 186 yards on 29 carries. Mims’ longest run was for 59 yards in the second quarter.
Special teams collected 12 points for Fresno State. K Cesar Silva delivered a perfect 3-for-3 game.
Meanwhile, Boise State had a touchdown and change to spare in a 28-19 victory over the Colorado State Rams on Saturday. The win came about thanks to a strong surge after the first quarter to overcome a 13 to nothing deficit. Boise State QB Hank Bachmeier was slinging it as he passed for three TDs and 253 yards on 32 attempts. Near the top of the highlight reel was Bachmeier’s 51-yard TD bomb to TE Tyneil Hopper in the fourth quarter.
The Bulldogs are now 7-2 while the Broncos sit at 4-4. A pair of offensive numbers to keep in mind before kickoff: Fresno State is stumbling into the matchup with the 156th fewest rushing yards per game in the nation, having accrued only 129.1 on average. Boise State has experienced some struggles of their own as they are 226th worst in the nation in rushing yards per game, with only 84.3 on average. Yards on the ground might be a real commodity in this one.
