Browns vs. Steelers player props, odds, Monday Night Football picks: Najee Harris under 70.5 rushing yards

Written by on January 4, 2022

The last Monday Night Football game of the season is also expected to be the final home game of Ben Roethlisberger’s career. The two-time Super Bowl winner takes on a familiar foe as his Pittsburgh Steelers host the Cleveland Browns at 8:15 p.m. ET. Pittsburgh has a miniscule chance of making the postseason, and even if it did, it wouldn’t host any postseason games if it nabs the final Wild Card spot. With everything at stake, emotions will be running high at Heinz Field and Roethlisberger is attracting lots of interest in NFL prop bets for Steelers vs. Browns.

Will the Steelers showcase Roethlisberger’s arm one last time by featuring the pass game and giving the home fans what they want? Caesars Sportsbook has set the bar at 35.5 pass attempts (-130/+100) for his player props as Roethlisberger is averaging 36.8 attempts per game on the season. But he threw 34 passes when he last saw the Browns in Week 8, so this prop pick is looking like one of the more difficult ones to bet on. Before making any NFL prop bets for Browns vs. Steelers, you need to see the Monday Night Football prop predictions from the SportsLine Projection Model.

The model, which simulates every NFL game 10,000 times, is up over $7,100 for $100 players on top-rated NFL picks since its inception six-plus years ago. The model enters Week 17 of the 2021 season on an incredible 134-96 run on top-rated NFL picks that dates back to the 2017 season.

The model also ranked in the top 10 on NFLPickWatch four of the past five years on straight-up NFL picks and beat more than 94 percent of CBS Sports Football Pick’em players four times during that span. Anyone who has followed it is way up.

It can also be used to crush NFL prop picks. Last season, its NFL prop bets went 389-310, returning over $3,000.

With Steelers vs. Browns set for Monday Night Football, the model has evaluated the NFL player props from Caesars and found five strong bets. You can only see them here.

Top NFL player prop bets for Browns vs. Steelers

After simulating Steelers vs. Browns 10,000 times, the model predicts that Steelers running back Najee Harris goes under 70.5 rushing yards at -115 odds. The rookie has hit a rough patch lately and has failed to reach 40 rushing yards three times over the last six games. After averaging 71.8 rushing yards through the first 10 weeks of the season, Harris is averaging just 56.3 rushing yards per contest since Week 11.

The Browns’ defense has also been stout against the run all year as Cleveland ranks in the top 10 in both rushing yards allowed and rushing yards per attempt allowed. No running back has topped 66 rushing yards versus Cleveland since Week 11 and that includes games against Aaron Jones and Josh Jacobs among others.

Other circumstances in play also aren’t in favor for Harris on Monday Night Football. The Steelers had two starting offensive linemen leave their last game early due to injuries and they aren’t expected to be at full strength vs. the Browns. The model recognizes this and has Harris averaging just 3.1 yards per carry. With that low rushing average, he won’t get enough carries to surpass the 70.5 yardage threshold as the model has Harris finishing with 59 total rushing yards.

SportsLine’s NFL model also says Browns receiver Jarvis Landry goes over 47.5 total receiving yards at -115 odds. Landry is averaging 69 receiving yards per game over his last three and has been targeted an average of nine times over that stretch. That is a vast increase from the six targets and 35 yards per game he had through his first seven games of the season. Landry also went over that 47.5 total in his last matchup vs. Pittsburgh, finishing with 65 yards against the Steelers earlier this season.

Landry has faced the Steelers 10 times in his career and exceeded 47.5 receiving yards seven times. Pittsburgh has allowed 27 different players to top 47.5 receiving yards this season or an average of 1.8 players per game. Landry leads Cleveland in targets per game, receptions per game and receiving yards per game, so he is the most likely Brown to go off in the passing game. The model has Landry being Baker Mayfield’s top target on Monday Night Football and it has the receiver finishing with 50 yards on average.
