The Dayton Flyers will take on the Belmont Bruins at 4 p.m. ET on Sunday at HP Field House.
Dayton skirted by the Kansas Jayhawks 74-73 on Friday thanks to a clutch half-court bomb from forward Mustapha Amzil as the clock expired. The Flyers got double-digit scores from five players: forward DaRon Holmes II (16), guard Elijah Weaver (14), forward Toumani Camara (14), guard Koby Brea (10), and guard Malachi Smith (10).
Meanwhile, Belmont was able to grind out a solid victory over the Iona Gaels on Friday, winning 72-65. It was another big night for the Bruins’ center Nick Muszynski, who had 19 points along with eight rebounds and three blocks.
Their wins bumped Dayton to 3-3 and Belmont to 5-2. DaRon Holmes II will be someone to keep an eye on after he had 16 points on Friday. Let’s see if he can build on that strong performance or if Belmont’s defense can bottle him up.
