Deputies say that while they were at two locations on Fir Road in the Heard County community of Franklin, they found evidence of animal cruelty and abuse.

Since the news broke, Heard County residents have contributed money for dog food, collars, cleaning supplies and much more to help the dogs be nursed back to health.

“OPERATION SCOBBY-DOO has been a huge success, and you helped save over 200 dogs, and they appreciate your love and kindness. Thank you so much for all the support and donations to “OPERATION SCOOBY-DOO,” Heard County Deputy Fire Chief Robert Bell wrote in an email.

Bell said they had received so much financial support in recent days that they are no longer in need.

“As a county, you raised over 4000 pounds of dog food, 200+ collars and leashes, over a ton of cleaning supplies and much more. The county, at the beginning of this rescue, only had 15 places for dogs or cats. After your help, we have been able to house 30+ dogs safely and securely,” Bell said.
