The San Francisco Dons and the Brigham Young Cougars are set to clash at 10:30 p.m. ET March 5 at Orleans Arena in the third round of the West Coast Conference Tourney. The Dons have the odds in their favor, so they’ll need to guard against complacency.
San Francisco had enough points to win and then some against the San Diego Toreros two weeks ago, taking their contest 78-62. San Francisco’s success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but forward Patrick Tape led the charge as he had 15 points along with five rebounds.
Meanwhile, BYU earned some postseason bragging rights after a successful outing this past Friday. They put the hurt on the Loyola Marymount Lions with a sharp 85-60 win. BYU can attribute much of their success to forward Fousseyni Traore, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 11 boards, and guard Alex Barcello, who had 22 points.
San Francisco didn’t have too much trouble with the Cougars on the road when the two teams last met earlier in the regular season as they won 73-59. Will the Dons repeat their success, or does BYU have a better game plan this time around? We’ll find out soon enough.
