Kirk Cousins was 10 years old when the cult classic “Office Space” hit the big screen. While it probably didn’t resonate with him then, Cousins now can surely identify with the movie’s main character, who endured a serious “case of the Mondays” during the film’s opening sequence.

All told, Cousins entered Monday night’s game against the 49ers with a 12-21 career record in prime time that included a 2-10 mark on “Monday Night Football.” That changed thanks to Monday’s performance against the San Francisco 49ers, as Cousins went 35 of 45 for 378 yards with two touchdowns and an interception (107.2 rating). He was not sacked despite dropping back 45 times.

Those prime-time records improve to 3-10 on “Monday Night Football” and 13-21 overall. Cousins’ 378 pass yards were the fourth most against a Kyle Shanahan-coached team.

Cousins is 8-10 in prime time in Minnesota after going 5-11 in such games in Washington. Cousins is 6-3 in home prime-time games in Minnesota and 9-8 at home in prime time for his career.

Cousins, 35, has put up big numbers this season amid the Vikings‘ 3-4 start. He’s completing 68.9% of his passes this season with 16 touchdowns against five interceptions for a 101.8 rating.

The prime-time narrative will always shine with Cousins, but he exorcised those demons for one game.
