There’s a release date for Halle Bailey‘s Little Mermaid doll: April 23. Fans, however, can secure their toys now by preordering ahead of the actual drop.
The doll resembles Halle’s version of Ariel, from her red braids down to the mole above her eyebrow. “I am literally choking up because this means so much to me,” she previously said while announcing the doll. “To have one that looks like me that’s my favorite Disney character is very surreal.”
The Little Mermaid premieres May 26 in theaters nationwide. A glimpse of Halle’s starring role is previewed in a trailer, which apparently made her sister Chlöe emotional.
“I was screaming and I was crying,” Chlöe said during a recent appearance on The Drew Barrymore Show. “I was just screaming because she is a real-life mermaid, a siren, graceful in all her beauty. And people get to see what I’ve always seen since we were little girls.”
Halle returned the love, applauding her sister for the start of her In Pieces tour. She also shared a pair of tweets that many believe may have been directed at internet trolls criticizing Chlöe.
“i’m gonna say this once. i don’t stand for bullying of any kind on this app of anyone..those who i don’t know, and especially of those who i love with my whole heart. i think sometimes people forget that even though we live public lives, we are human, and have souls..,” Halle wrote. “everyone who knows me knows i go to war for the ones i love and i’ve kept it real cute on this app for a while now.. so just reminding y’all to please keep it cute too.”
