Hit-Boy locked in with Nas for all three albums in their King’s Disease series, but the Queens rapper isn’t the only one he’s worked with on a full-length project. The Grammy-winning producer is gearing up for the release of an R&B album, which will see him team up with Musiq Soulchild.
Musiq announced the project during an appearance on Bill Bellamy‘s Top Billin‘ podcast, and Hit-Boy later confirmed the news while responding to a fan’s inquiry on Twitter.
“hold tf on – @MusiqSoulchild is planning to release a joint album with a collab album with @Hit_Boy????” the fan asked, to which the producer replied, “R&B Hit-Boy otw.” He later shared a screenshot of the exchange to his Instagram and tagged the singer, who commented with some water wave emojis.
As Musiq revealed in the podcast, Victims & Villains has an anticipated February release date.
“The title is designed to address the topic of the challenges we all deal with in relationships, but I’m approaching it from a slightly different angle than I used to,” he explained. “It’s more abstract, at the same time direct.”
“A lot of people don’t realize which one they are,” Musiq added. “They think they’re one when they’re the other.”
Victims & Villains is currently in the “beginning stages of mixing.” While that project is actually confirmed, Hit-Boy also says he has enough tracks to create a project with Anderson .Paak.
Responding to a fan who expressed his desire to hear a Hit-Boy/Anderson project, Hit-Boy wrote, “me and paak got enough joints in my computer for a album already.”
