How to watch Heat vs. 76ers basketball game

Through 2 Quarters

The Miami Heat are flexing their muscles against the Philadelphia 76ers, showing why they were favored to win all along. Miami is in control with a 54-40 lead over Philadelphia.

The Heat have enjoyed the tag-team combination of small forward Jimmy Butler and point guard Tyler Herro. The former has 14 points and two assists in addition to four boards, while the latter has 13 points along with three rebounds. The 76ers haven’t had any offensive standouts so far with all players held to 11 points or fewer.

This is tied with the least points Philadelphia has had yet this year going into the third quarter.

Who’s Playing

Philadelphia @ Miami

Current Records: Philadelphia 39-23; Miami 42-22

What to Know

The Philadelphia 76ers and the Miami Heat are even-steven against one another since November of 2015 (14-14), but not for long. Philadelphia might have tired legs after a matchup yesterday as they head on the road against the Heat at 8 p.m. ET March 5 at FTX Arena. The Sixers know how to get points on the board — the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past five matchups — so hopefully Miami likes a good challenge.

Philadelphia didn’t have too much breathing room in their game with the Cleveland Cavaliers this past Friday, but they still walked away with a 125-119 victory. The win came about thanks to a strong surge after the first quarter to overcome a 43-30 deficit. Philadelphia can attribute much of their success to point guard Tyrese Maxey, who shot 5-for-6 from beyond the arc and finished with 33 points and five dimes.

Meanwhile, even if it wasn’t a dominant performance, Miami beat the Brooklyn Nets 113-107 this past Thursday. The Heat’s center Bam Adebayo did his thing and posted a double-double on 30 points and 11 rebounds along with six assists.

The 76ers are expected to lose this next one by 5.5. However, those who like betting on the underdog should be happy to hear that they are 10-5-1 against the spread when expected to lose.

Their wins bumped the Sixers to 39-23 and Miami to 42-22. Watch the contest and check back on CBS Sports to find out who keeps up the positive energy and who hits a stumbling block.
