Real Sociedad vs. Mallorca prediction, odds, line: Expert reveals La Liga picks for Wednesday, March 2

Mallorca and Real Sociedad will meet on Wednesday with two different goals in mind for the La Liga clubs. Real Sociedad (11-8-6) is pushing for a top-four position in the league, which would assure it a spot in next season’s Champions League. Real Sociedad ranks seventh in the La Liga table but just four points behind fourth-place Barcelona. Meanwhile, Mallorca (6-8-11) is fighting to simply stay out of the relegation zone as it’s in 16th place, just two spots above being sent down to La Liga 2.

Kickoff is set for 3 p.m. ET from Visit Mallorca Stadium. Caesars Sportsbook lists Real Sociedad as the +145 favorite (risk $100 to win $145) on the 90-minute money line in the latest Mallorca vs. Real Sociedad odds, with Mallorca as the +225 underdog. A draw is priced at +195 and the over-under for total goals scored is 2.5. Before you lock in any Real Sociedad vs. Mallorca picks, see the La Liga predictions from soccer insider Brandt Sutton.

He has followed soccer closely for much longer and factors in managerial tactics, projected lineups and past performances to make the most-informed decisions possible, keeping his finger on the pulse of the game all over the globe.

  • Mallorca vs. Real Sociedad over-under: 2.5 goals
  • Mallorca vs. Real Sociedad money line: Real Sociedad +145, Mallorca +225, Draw +195
  • RS: Real Sociedad has posted clean sheets in five of its last six league games
  • MAL: Mallorca has scored six goals over its last four league games

Why you should back Real Sociedad

While Real Sociedad sits in seventh place in La Liga, it is third in fewest goals allowed (25). That trails only Real Madrid (20) and Sevilla (18) who are first and second, respectively, in the La Liga table. Mallorca knows just how difficult it is to score on Real Sociedad, having been shutout in each of the teams’ last four meetings. The backline is stout and goalkeeper Alex Remiro could be on his way to racking up some awards at season’s end.

Remiro tops the league in both clean sheets (13) and in clean sheet percentage (59.1). Four of his last five league games have been clean sheets and he’s experienced nothing but success in his La Liga career versus Mallorca. He’s played 180 minutes against the team without allowing a goal and saving five shot attempts. He’s unlikely to be challenged often by a Mallorca attack that’s scored the third-fewest goal in the league.

Why you should back Mallorca

After beginning the La Liga season with just four wins through its first 21 games, Mallorca has won two of its last four outings entering play on Wednesday. The club used two penalty kicks to knock off Cadiz 2-1 on Feb. 5 and then shocked an Athletic Bilbao squad 3-2 on Feb. 14. Bilbao sits in eight in the La Liga table — and just one spot behind Real Sociedad — showing what Mallorca can do when it plays to its full abilities.

Mallorca has experienced more success at home, which gives it hope for Wednesday. It has a plus-one goal differential at home, which may not seem like much, but is drastically improved over its minus-17 goal differential in road contests. That overall differential of 18 goals is the second-largest for any La Liga team as the supporters in Visit Mallorca Stadium really get behind the home team. Mallorca has won three out of its last four games in all competitions in the stadium while outscoring opponents 7-5 over that span.
