When it comes to never-before-heard collaborations by legendary gospel singer Tye Tribbett, the Grammy winner says he’s looking to work with new artists of today.

In a recent chat with ABC Audio, the 46-year-old singer-songwriter opened up about making music with the younger generation of gospel singers, and his desire to write and produce.

“I’m anxious to see who’s new and who’s next,” he said. “I want to start grooming who’s next. I love what everybody’s doing.”

For more than a decade Tribbett and his award-winning gospel group, Greater Anointing, have created hit songs with revered artists such as Donnie McClurkinSmokie Norful and even Snoop Dogg. As for a specific act he’s looking to collaborate with soon, Tribbett says he’s down to make music magic with the recent Grammy-winning breakout group Maverick City Music

When speaking of the group’s new joint album, Kingdom Book One, and multicity tour with Kirk Franklin, Tribbett says a project with the group would be cool.

Besides Maverick City, he says, he’s simply looking to team up with the next artist on the rise to “see what kind of new stuff we can come up with.”

Prior to his nostalgic performance of hit songs at the 2022 Roots Picnic earlier this month, Tribbett released his latest song, “New,” the first single from his forthcoming album All Things New, expected July 8.

“I’m so glad the pandemic hit,” he said of the upcoming project. “Seriously … it had me center myself. It stripped me from systems, it stripped me from my normal, what I always did.”
