The SEC is fining South Carolina for a violation of the league’s access to competition area policy after Gamecocks fans stormed the field to celebrate an upset win against Texas A&M in Week 10. This being South Carolina’s second offense in 2024, the university will have to pay $250,000.

South Carolina logged its first violation in January when fans took to the court following a win against Kentucky in men’s basketball.

Fans immediately hopped the wall between the stands inside Williams-Brice Stadium and went onto the field after the Gamecocks put a bow on their 44-20 victory against Texas A&M, which ranked No. 10 entering Saturday’s slate. The Aggies were the last remaining undefeated team in SEC play but now sit at 5-1.

South Carolina, meanwhile, improved to 5-3 with a 3-3 record in SEC play.

Saturday’s result also gave South Carolina coach Shane Beamer his third win against an AP top-10 opponent, moving him into second place in program history. The Gamecocks beat Tennessee and Clemson in consecutive weeks to close the 2022 season, knocking both teams out of the College Football Playoff race in the process.

South Carolina will have a chance at another ranked victory in Week 11, though it will have to do it on the road against No. 24 Vanderbilt
