Both teams got off to a winning start to their Premier League campaigns but this match between Liverpool and Brentford will offer a much sterner test. Liverpool were able to get the best of a promoted side in Ipswich after a slow start to the match while Brentford faced Crystal Palace who are finding their feet with Michael Olise now with Bayern Munich. It’s a match that could be quite an open affair as while Arne Slot sides are strong in attack, they do provide chances to be countered against too.

Here are our storylines, how you can watch the match and more:

How to watch and odds

  • Date: Sunday, Aug. 25 | Time: 11:30 a.m. ET
  • Location: Anfield — Liverpool, England
  • Live stream: Peacock
  • Odds: Liverpool -400; Draw +500; Brentford +1000

Storylines

Liverpool: There will be a few lineup questions for the Reds as players get more minutes of training under them such as Darwin Nunez. Diogo Jota’s performance was strong and it is expected that he stays in the XI but Slot has options which is always a good thing. The attack is looking sharp in the early going but repetition is key.

Brentford: Fabio Carvalho won’t be able to be involved in the match due to being on loan from Liverpool but all eyes are on Ivan Toney. The English striker could be on his way out with interest from Saudi Arabia and English teams but in Bryan Mbeumo and Yoane Wissa, the attack will be in good hands.

Prediction

Through Mohamed Salah, the Reds will get the job done in their first home match under Slot. Pick: Liverpool 3, Brentford 1
